Face-to-face education, which was interrupted during the education period this year due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic that affected the whole world and Turkey, continued with distance education. The award ceremony for 202 students who ranked in the top 1000 in the High School Entrance Exam (LGS) and in the top 5000 in the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) administered by Gaziantep Development Foundation (GAGEV) in the 2019-2020 Academic Year was held in the area located in the Metropolitan Municipality Fıstık Park. The ceremony was attended by Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, Provincial Director of National Education Yasin Tepe, Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce President Tuncay Yıldırım, Gaziantep Chamber of Industry President Adnan Ünverdi, Southeastern Anatolia Exporters' Union President Fikret Kileci, Gaziantep Commodity Exchange President Mehmet Akıncı, Organized Industrial Zone President Cengiz Şimşek and Chamber of Commerce Assembly President Hilmi Teymur, students and their families. Gül, who stated that they see each student as a diamond and that is why they named the project PırlantAntep, said, “I would like to thank and congratulate our students, their devoted families who have worked hard for our students so far, our teachers, our school administrators, and everyone who has contributed directly or indirectly to our students. As GAGEV, we support everything that is good about Gaziantep. We started giving scholarships last year, and this year we are giving scholarships to 202 people. No one is anyone else’s rival. We want to be with every successful student and their family in Gaziantep. You are embarking on a new life. The conditions are now much better than in previous years. We also wanted to be with you as a city.” Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin congratulated the students by saying, “If you believe, if you do it with love, if you continue on your path with faith, you will succeed.”
