LIBERATION OF GAZIANTEP CELEBRATED WITH A MAGNIFICENT CEREMONY

The celebrations which started with the presentation of a wreath at democracy square, then continued with the Monument of Martyrs and the Dokurcum Square.

Gaziantep Governer Ali Yerlikaya who was also the The Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of Development Foundation of Gaziantep (GAGEV), Gaziantep MPs Nejat Koçer, Ahmet Uzer, Mehmet Erdoğan, Abdülkadir Yüksel, Canan Candemir Çelik, Akif Ekici and Ümit Özdağ, Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin, Protocol Members, the Representatives of Civil Society Organizations, the Members of Associations of Martyrs and Veterans and our citizens were attended to the celebrations.

Governor Ali Yerlikaya and Mayor Fatma Şahin were placed wreaths on the monument of Atatürk and then our Independence Medal placed on Turkish Flag by them.

After a moment of silence and reading of our the national anthem, the protocol members, representative students from different schools walked through the Monument of Martyrs which was located at the Çınarlı Square on the Atatürk Boulevard with Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Band. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mehter Team took place in the front of the cortege.

Provincial Mufti Assistant Şaban Kondi prayed for the 6.317 martyrs who lost their lives during the Gaziantep war at the the Monument of Martyrs. Protocol members placed bouquets and carnations to the mausoleum. The celebrations continued at the Dokurcum Square. This year's celebration took place with the participation of surrounding cities and counties.

Gaziantep Governer Ali Yerlikaya and Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin were celebrated the Independence Day of the participants in the field. After a moment of silence and reading of our the national anthem, the program started by the poetry reading of Kübra Tuğce Karaoğlu and Şevket Durgun who were the students of the Yasemin Erman Balsu Anatolion High School. Mayor Fatma Sahin gave a speech about the meaning and importance of the day.

Mayor Fatma Şahin said that ‘We shout to the whole world with 2 million people who live in our city that being the mayor of this city is a great honor and the glory. We will continue the fight for independent and free Turkey. We all have determination, love and dedication for this.
The strength that we need is available in our blood. We will always remember our salvation and we will never forget it. We are remembering our martyrs with gratitude and we bow respectfully in front of them’ during her speech at the celebration program.
